The first of my Prince of Tennis/Air Gear pics. After I saw 's Prince of Tennis/Air Gear pics, I went out and bought issues 1 and 5 of Air Gear by Oh!Great (Oh!Great fan--loves "Devil") And drew these.
Since I was in a lazy mood yesterday, I decided to scan my pics before I erased the pencil lines from them, so you can see the preliminary sketches, the mess mistakes I made, etc...
"Air Gear" is a manga by Oh!Great that runs in Shounen Magazine...it's about how in the not-so-distant future, roller blades have become so advanced that you can do REALLY COOL TRICKS on them, like fly O_O and there are all these roller blade gangs ("Storm Riders"), kinda like biker gangs of nowadays.
The designs in there, as always by Oh!Great, look awesome, and I wanted to draw some of the characters of TeniPuri in the roller blades and also pratice my 1.)motion pictures/poses 2.)perspetives 3.)mechanical drawing 4.)clothing designs.
His clothes are really based after Agito's clothes from "Air Gear," as well as Ash Crimson from KOF 2004... (the sleeves, the chaps...). His roller blades are modeled after Ringo's in "Air Gear." At first I wasn't going to pu that many ribbons in the pic, but his pose didn't seem too much in motion, so I added them in for the floating/flying feel.
Because the pic is going to be in so much motion, I wanted to prevent erasing too much and making lots of marks on the paper, so I drew a small preliminary sketch on the top corner first. I didn't have a good idea of what kind of smile I wanted on Marui, since I didn't think chewing gum while doing this was a good idea, so I drew two practices first.
A line of coincidence is what I was taught in my BOTTLE DRAWING CLASS O_o as a way to measure where the shoulder would be in coincidence to the head, where other parts of the body would be in coincidence to the other parts of the body, etc...
It is very helpful to see all the lines and stuff. I recently drew my first figure trying to use the circle and line method, but I wasn't sure what goes exactly on the circles and lines, how it should line up! And it was good to see that you do have rough drawings, otherwise it just looks like you put the ink down where you want it without any effort, LOL!
They look great, as always! Please post the "clean" ones, too, if you have time.
thank you X3 Sometimes I put roughs up for that reason cuz I have been accused of tracing, eye-balling, or even plain art theft since I sometime just put up the finished work or the clean lineart, and they don't believe me when I say that I actually tore hair out for some of my stuff.

"We are attracted to each other; like drops of water, like the constellations. We are repelled from one another; like magnets, like the colour of our skin."
Yeah, that's probably a good idea these days.. Although you can tell when someone is really stealing, because you recognize who made the art! When people say it is stolen for no reason that is not nice...
